Wedding
Doesn't she look great? I voted her best-dressed wedding guest. She was wearing a black & white tribal-type print with a twist and a button at the bodice--it fit her perfectly and was so chic-looking. Plus--fabulous black patent platform pumps, a pretty apricot-colored flower in the back of her hair. She looked relaxed and stylish.
Here's the happy couple: my nephew Todd and his new bride, Caryn. Her dress was ivory slubbed shantung strapless with gathers on one side that made her waist look so tiny! Also a beautiful cascade of rhinestones down one side of the skirt--just gorgeous but very simple and classic-looking.
Regatta Weekend
I did a little long-distance blogging last week-end while we were in Astoria, Ore. for my nephew Todd's wedding. The wedding was serendipitously timed to coincide with Regatta Weekend so somehow I ended up at the Regatta Parade down Commercial Street in Astoria. And what a parade it was! There were some special things worn in Astoria! Evidently to be in the parade all you had to do was wear a giant tutu and butterfly wings:
Or a tuna costume, complete with crown.

Summer Shoes
Ok, an alert blog reader sent me pix of some interesting shoes: here's the Obama flip-flop--which has nothing to do with his changing his mind on any issues.
Wild things. Nice legs, too, dontcha think?
For the flower girl in the wedding, I guess:

And these must be little ladders for social climbers?
I don't think any of these are for real but you have to admit they're quite imaginative....

By the way, I tried Geppetto's (next to the Shopkeeper on 32nd & Summitview) for the first time today & it is fabulous!! Plus our favorite server formerly from YCC, Tracy, works there. The Greek pizza was delicious & I was so happy to find it since Zesta Cucina for some reason quit making pizzas. Plus lots of pasta dishes, paninis, sandwiches, salads, & some interesting Italian appetizers. Try it! But get there early, there are just a few tables & they fill up fast at lunchtime. (They do serve dinner, too--they're open til 8). AND they're expanding into the next two rooms, including the fireplace room. That'll be so cozy this winter! Check out the Ladies Room--love the tile!

Denyse's Shoe Sale
Sadly, Denyse is going out of business. Happily, all the shoes are half off. Get there soon, there are still some left! Naughty Monkeys, Carlos Santanas, Fuel sandals, Soft, a few Cole-Hahns, some men's shoes. You won't find the above Stuart Weitzman's however....I got the last pair. Yipppeeeee! Where'd I leave my whip?

Chimpwear
Ya know how I've always quoted that "The ability to accessorize is what separates us from the lower species?" (That's a line from Steel Magnolias in case you've ever wondered...) I received an e-mail from alert blog-reader Sarah Baeckler, the exec director at Chimpanzee Sanctuary NW in Cle Elum (you didn't know there was such a place, did you?), and she sent along some great fashion pix of their sweet chimps wearing tutus, berets, and assorted other frou-frou. Sarah says the chimps love to play dress-up, and she's snapped a few photos & videos of them playing in their latest garb.
The sanctuary's website is www.chimpsanctuarynw.org/blog --you can click here & see more pix of the playful retirees and read about their former careers as science experiments and baby chimp producers. They're now on a nice big happy farm where all they do is play all day in tutus and get every need attended to by Sarah and her crew of volunteers. OMG does that sound like a fun job?
Which kind of reminds me, we used to have a little cabin north of Cle Elum where we took the kids & their friends all the time. I guess we kind of had our own chimp sanctuary going there for a while...
This is Jamie hanging around in a white tutu reminiscent of Madonna in her "Like a Virgin" video. Wonder if Jamie's seen that one?
Jamie again, wearing a teeny weeny polka-dot bikini top. As a hat. Innovation!
The royal blue, hand-knit beret adorned with clusters of knit flowers. Really lovely.

Also there's a great video on YouTube of Jamie in her ethereal blue/green/aqua multi-layered tutu worthy of Titania in Midsummer Night's Dream. Click here: http://www.chimpsanctuarynw.org/blog/?p=2191
